Tretinoin is a medication for topical treatment of acne vulgaris. It promotes peeling of
affected skin areas and helps unplug blackheads and whiteheads (comedones), the
initial changes in acne formation. Tretinoin is usually applied once a day at bedtime
or once every 2 or 3 days, to the skin where acne lesions appear. It is supplied as
topical liquid, cream, and gel.
